The way to Install a Plastic Oval Toilet Seat

Whether your old toilet seat is chipped or worn, or you merely want to alter the color, you can spruce up your bathroom’s look by replacing your old toilet chair. Some toilets have an elongated bowl and require an oval replacement seat. Plastic oval bathroom seats are easy to clean and are available in colours that will complement your bathroom decor. Home centers and hardware stores carry replacing toilet seats, which frequently include noncorroding plastic bolts and nuts.

Shut the lid on the old toilet seat. Pop open the plastic caps that cover the bolts in the back of the toilet seat. Find the nuts on the bolts on the bottom of the toilet bowl.

Hold 1 nut with an adjustable wrench and unscrew the bolt using a screwdriver. Repeat the process with another bolt and nut. When the bolts are made of steel and also have corroded, apply a few drops of penetrating oil to the threads. Allow the oil set for 30 minutes and try to unscrew the bolts again. Saw through the nuts or involving the nuts and the toilet bowl in the event that you still cannot unscrew the bolts. Remove the bolts from the holes.

Boost the old toilet seat off the bowl once you remove the bolts. Clean the bowl rim using a rag and household cleaner.

Measure the length from between the bolt holes to the front edge of the toilet bowl. Buy an oval plastic seat in the event the bowl steps 18 1/2 inches. Take the old bolts together with you to the home center so you can buy exactly the same size plastic bolts and nuts in the event the maker didn’t include them using the new seat.

Place the new plastic oval bathroom seat on the bowl and then pop up the plastic bolt covers in the back of the chair. Line up the holes in the seat using the holes at the toilet bowl. Insert a new bolt in every hole and then hand-tighten a nut onto each bolt through the bottom of the bowl.

Turn the bolts a quarter-turn at one time using a screwdriver to avoid overtightening and splitting the plastic seat. Pop the plastic caps back above the bolts.
